Pre Party The Festival After Party The Songs |
![]() |
Ten bands came to New York City from all over the US and lands beyond. The stock line was "We're competing to record the B-side of 'The Bowery Electric,' a tribute song for Joey Ramone." But everybody knew better. These bands were REALLY here to have the best weekend of their lives, celebrate the birthday of the King of Punk, and do something none of them ever dreamed they would: play a sold-out show at CBGB as an opening act for some of the greatest rock and rollers to ever command a stage. From the opening-night party on Saturday, to the last chord ringing off Daniel Rey's guitar, the Bowery Electric Festival was charged with a spirit of teamwork, love and goodwill. Ten bands who never thought they'd do it DID IT. And that's what the Ramones are all about, right? |
