Its sad but true but it still doesn't seem real. I've been trying to pick up the pieces for the last hour and half listening to Danny Says over and over but the pieces are gone guess. Nobody influenced my life as much as Joey Ramone. Through good and bad Joey and the Ramones were always there. Joey Ramone died yesterday but legends like Joey will live on in the hearts of their family, friends, and fans all over the world who love him. Thanks to you to all who have shared your memories and thoughts here.

Here's to Joey Ramone. For me this is a sad day as the Ramones are my all time favorite band and most influential in what do with my music. You will be missed Joey and your legend will live on. "Life's a Gas"

I interviewed Joey and the band back in 1978 for the maiden issue of a St.Louis fanzine called "Jet Lag." I remember how gracious and down-to-earth they were. I especially appreciated the interest they showed in our own struggling underground music scene. My overwhelming impression was that these guys saw themselves first and foremost as fans like us, not as rock stars. Goodbye, Joey. Thanks again for the interview. thanks for all the music. And thanks mostly for giving rock'n'roll a new lease on life just when it looked like it was down for good.

For a gangly not so attractive person I've seen women ( mighty fine ones at that) fall for him these last 25 or more years he conducted himself with a style and respect that very few people have, let alone rock stars. Subject: Punk Rocker Joey Ramone Dead at 49 Date: 04/15/2001 11:10 PM

Subject: Goodbye Joey Date: 04/16/2001 12:30 AM
I was 18 years old when the Ramones came on the scene and rescued us from the dark ages of disco. Tall, lanky, Joey was always my favorite Ramone. Twenty-five years later I still love the music and listen to the Ramones with my "second generation" punk children and their friends. Thanks for the great music and rest in peace, Joey!!!

I Will never forget going to CBGBs to watch the Ramones. They played 110 miles per hour rock-N- Roll. I also remember Hitching a ride to Rockaway Beach. Getting picked up by a cement truck. Joey, My God have mercy on your soul. Rest in peace my friend............Jerry (the Rev)

Wow it must really be the apocalypse comes to claim all that is sacred in rock and roll. Too many times have good artists fallen by the wayside at such an early age. Joey was the real thing. The Ramones kicked everybody's ass, yet still had enough tact not to get jealous when they didn't achieve commercial success such as all the fag boy bands out there, or god forbid the likes of that crap that goes by the name Limp Biscuit. The Ramones were rock and roll from the leather jackets to the angst that permeated throughout their music, they stood for everything rock and roll meant and it's sad to see that one of the greatest front men of our generation or any generation for that matter is gone. Even though they did quit back in 96', they are forever ingrained in our brains like the catchy phrases and silly lyrics that have given all of us years of entertainment did. And who knows Maybe god is the biggest Ramones fan of us all and one day hopefully after many years have passed we'll all be able to witness the greatest show on earth on more time in the sky. Course it might go the other way too though, after all this is the greatest band of all time. So chances are that Satan is a Ramones fan as well. Either way we hope to hear you again Joey and until that time we'll miss you brother. Gabba Gabba Hey! and good luck where ever you end up.

Stage presence, fun lyrics, a true punk. I'm devastated. I don't want to believe it. I hope he realized what his band's music did for me (well, still does for me). What an awful loss. I just can't believe.

Subject: In death... Date: 04/16/2001 1:19 AM
Outside of The Beatles, they were rock's greatest band. It is often said in simplicity you find true beauty. A very appropriate comment about a band that essentially remained true to itself. I will forever crave to see just one more Ramones show. ¥Joey's presence was powerful, his voice was one of a kind, and only in death may his greatness be truly appreciated.

I feel so sad over this. It's like I Lost a younger brother or a close relative. Joey had a magical presence...and such a wonderful way of relating to people. Everything written about him is true, he was loved by friends and fans alike. This is a shocking and terrible loss. Rest in peace sweet Joey. We will! always love you.

Subject: From The Ramones Manager.
I was the manager of the Ramones from 1975-1980, and I've gotta tell all of you that this guy was as great as you all are saying, and greater in ways that you cannot know unless you knew him. He was the sweetest, most agreeable, smartest and funniest performer I was ever close to, and whatever you hear about "friction" within the band, it was never about Joey. With those very tough guys, Joey was the savior and the virgin, all in one; they beat each other up all the time, but no one would ever touch Joey, because he was loved so much, and they had known him so long. He was the neighborhood "geek," you know, and didn't sit at the best tables in Junior High and HS, not even the better ones; he was isolated because he was so tall and so "weird." Well, kids, we've never heard of all the people who didn't want him at their tables, but we're crying for Joey. That's what his life was about, beyond the great songs and the great band and the great singing, it was about becoming a star for the right reasons, when you have been excluded for the wrong ones, and that could have done you in right then and there...but it didn't. Rest in peace, beautiful Joey.
Danny Fields.
