Ramones: Subterranean Jungle (Sire)

USA Today 3/24/83

Andrew Slater

A raging storm of power chords, thundering drumbeats and garage-style '60s harmonies, Subterranean Jungle is an exhilarating collection of teen-age angst from the USA's most underrated rock band. The remakes of Music Explosion's Little Bit of Soul and the Chambers Brothers' Time Has Come Today strike a keen balance between brutal punk sensibility and clean, white funk. Witty, relentless and just plain fun, songs such as Every Time I Eat Vegetables I Think of You, My Kind of Girl and In the Park articulate adolescent feelings inside bleak urbania.
